Dual Flush Operator
The Dual Flush Optima is a side-mounted automatic flushometer actuator featuring variable flush volume for water conservation. Cooper Perkins helped Sloan design a mechanism that can automatically or manually provide two different flush volumes and be mounted to the Royal Flushometer without requiring the water supply to be shut off. The design uses infrared sensing to determine when to flush and how much water to use. Design requirements included a true mechanical manual override, low cost, very high electrical and mechanical energy efficiency, and special operating modes. Our team was able to identify an optimal motor/transmission and force translation mechanism, develop electronic hardware and firmware, and create prototypes that met all requirements.
In addition, the Cooper Perkins team worked side-by-side with Sloan engineers in the product testing and manufacturing ramp-up phases to facilitate a smooth transition to manufacturing.
